If any document is rejected, admin feedback explains what to correct and re-upload. You can keep using the provider dashboard while verification is finalising.

How can I start as a provider?

Sign up in about two minutes: pick your primary service category, confirm your phone number, and complete Stripe Identity verification. Your provider dashboard unlocks immediately — there is no manual approval queue to wait in. Next, add your service areas and upload trade documents (insurance, tax clearance, trade-specific certs). Your ranking and match quality improve as each document is verified.

Is WorkMate available outside Ireland?

WorkMate currently operates across all 26 counties of Ireland. We do not currently serve Northern Ireland or other countries. Location, policy, and support workflows are optimised for the Irish market.

How much does it cost to post a job?

Posting is completely free. You only pay when you accept a quote and the work begins. There are no hidden listing fees or upfront charges for customers.

How does payment protection work?

When you accept a quote, your payment is held securely by Stripe. The provider only receives payment once you confirm the work is complete. This protects both parties and ensures funds are only released when everyone is satisfied.

What happens if I'm not happy with the work?

You can raise a dispute within 14 days of job completion. Our team reviews the evidence and aims to resolve it within 5 business days. Both the customer and provider can submit supporting evidence through the dispute flow.

How long does provider verification take?

Stripe Identity completes in minutes — normally during signup. Trade document uploads (insurance, tax clearance, SafePass / RECI / RGII) are reviewed by our team within 1–2 business days. You receive an email the moment each document is approved. Rejected documents come with clear feedback on what to correct and re-upload.

What documents do providers need?

Can I cancel a job after accepting a quote?

Cancellation is free within the 14-day cooling-off window after accepting a provider. After that window, a 10% fee on the agreed quote amount (excluding the WorkMate service fee) applies. Once a provider has started the work, cancellation is no longer available — you must open a dispute if there is an issue. How do I get paid as a provider?

Payments are released to your Stripe Connect account once the customer confirms the job is complete. Funds typically arrive in your bank account within 2-5 business days.

What commission does WorkMate charge?

Customers pay an 11% service fee on jobs €50 and over. On repeat bookings with the same provider the rate drops to 8% (after 1–2 jobs completed together) or 6% (after 3 or more). Jobs under €50 carry a flat €3 minimum service fee. Providers pay commission out of their payout based on their subscription plan: Starter 10%, Pro 6%, Premium 3%. Repeat bookings reduce these further — Starter drops to 8% or 6%, Pro to 5%, Premium to 2%.

How do I delete my account and data?

Email support@workmate.ie with your request. Under GDPR, we process account deletions within 30 days. Financial records are retained for 7 years as required by Irish tax law.

Do I get a discount for rebooking a provider?

Accepted Answer

Yes. When you rebook a provider you have completed at least one job with, your service fee drops from the standard 11% to 8% (after 1–2 jobs together) or 6% (after 3 or more). This discount is applied automatically at checkout — no code needed.

Are there any fees for jobs under €50?

Accepted Answer

Jobs under €50 carry a flat €3 minimum service fee instead of a percentage. Jobs €50 and over are charged the standard 11% service fee (reduced for rebookings). All jobs are still processed securely through Stripe — so you're protected even on smaller ones.

Do prices include VAT?

All displayed subscription prices include Irish VAT at 23%. Service fees and commissions are calculated on the net job amount.

Is there a lock-in or cancellation fee for subscriptions?

No. All subscriptions are month-to-month with no lock-in. Cancel anytime from your dashboard — your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period.

Do I need to provide tax information as a provider?

Yes. Under the EU DAC7 Directive (2021/514), platforms must collect tax identification details from providers who earn over €2,000 or complete 30+ transactions per year. During onboarding you will be asked for your PPSN (or TIN if non-Irish), date of birth, and consent. This information is stored securely and used solely for annual tax reporting to Irish Revenue.

How does WorkMate match me with the right provider?

When providers submit offers on your job, they are ranked by a Smart Score that combines price competitiveness, review rating, response speed, completed-job history, and trust signals from document verification. Higher-verified providers with more completed jobs surface first. Badges on offer cards indicate top performers: TOP_OFFER for the highest-ranked match, TRUSTED_PRO for providers with high verification scores, and FAST_RESPONDER for providers who typically reply within an hour.

What happens if a provider doesn't show up?

If a provider never starts the work, your payment is returned automatically in full within 3–5 business days. No dispute is required — the hold simply expires. If you believe the provider misrepresented their availability, you can also raise a dispute from the job detail page; the admin team reviews it within 5 business days.

Can I message a provider before accepting their quote?

Yes. On each offer card you can send up to 3 pre-quote questions to clarify scope, timeline, materials, or any specifics. Providers see the question instantly and can reply in the same thread. No payment is held and no commitment is made until you accept a quote, so use pre-quote questions freely to compare providers.

What should I do if a provider asks me to pay off WorkMate?

Refuse and report them. Any provider asking you to pay outside WorkMate loses your Stripe-held payment protection, your dispute rights, and — under our Terms — their listing. Moving payments off-platform is also flagged by the Irish Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) as a common scam red flag. Report it through the Report Content form (in the footer of any page) or email support@workmate.ie. All active payments must stay on WorkMate for your refund and dispute flow to remain available.

How are providers background-checked?

Every provider completes Stripe Identity verification — a government-issued photo ID check with live capture and a matching selfie. On top of that, trade-specific credentials (Public Liability Insurance, Tax Clearance, SafePass for construction, RECI for electricians, RGII for gas) are uploaded and reviewed by our team before the provider can receive payouts. Verification is enforced at the payment layer, not left to the honour system: an unverified provider cannot receive money even if a customer tries to pay them.

What are my rights under the Irish Consumer Rights Act 2022?

You have a statutory 14-day cooling-off period from the moment you accept a provider’s quote. Within that window you can cancel for any reason and receive a full refund within 3–5 business days. After the cooling-off window, a 10% cancellation fee applies on the agreed quote amount. Once work has started, cancellation is no longer available — use the dispute process if you are not satisfied with the work. For independent advice, the CCPC (ccpc.ie) is the Irish consumer protection authority.

How does WorkMate comply with EU DAC7?

DAC7 (EU Directive 2021/514) requires digital platforms to report providers who earn over €2,000 or complete 30+ transactions in a calendar year. WorkMate collects your PPSN (or non-Irish TIN) and date of birth during provider onboarding, encrypts them at rest, and reports to Irish Revenue annually. You can review and update your DAC7 details at any time from your profile. The information is never shared with customers or other providers — it is used solely for statutory tax reporting.

Can I get an invoice or receipt for my booking?

Yes. A Stripe-hosted receipt is available from your payments dashboard the moment a payment is captured. It includes the job description, amount, fees, VAT breakdown, and payment timestamps. For time-tracked jobs, the provider can generate a formal Stripe invoice from their approved time entries; you receive this by email with a PDF attachment and a "Pay invoice" link if any balance is outstanding.

What happens if the provider cancels after I accept?

If the provider cancels before work begins, you receive a full automatic refund within 3–5 business days. No cancellation fee applies on your side. Your original payment is held in Stripe — nothing moved to the provider until they start or complete the work — so the refund is simply a reversal of the hold.

What happens to my data if I delete my account?

Your profile, reviews, messages, and job history are anonymised and deleted within 30 days of your deletion request. Before anything is permanently removed, you can request a full GDPR data export so you have your records. Financial transaction records (invoices, receipts, refund history, DAC7 reports) are retained for 7 years as required by Irish tax law. These are kept in a restricted archive and not visible on the platform.

Can I block or report a provider?

Yes. Every public profile and job has a "Report" link that opens the Report Content form. We accept reports for suspected fraud, off-platform payment requests, abusive conduct, illegal work, or terms violations (DSA Article 16). Each report goes to the admin team for review. If you want to avoid matching with a provider you had a bad experience with, rate them 1 star with a written note — our matching logic will not pair you with a provider you rated poorly in future jobs.

How do I update my payment method?

You can update the card on file from your customer dashboard settings; the change applies to your next booking. Existing holds on accepted jobs remain on the original card until the hold is captured or released. For subscription payment changes (provider side), the Stripe billing portal link in your subscription settings lets you update the card used for Pro or Premium monthly fees.

Do providers pay a subscription fee?

No subscription is required to get started. The Starter plan is free with a 10% commission on completed jobs. Optional upgrades reduce your commission: Pro at €12/month drops you to 6% (and 5% on repeat bookings), Premium at €29/month drops you to 3% (and 2% on repeat bookings). All plans are month-to-month with no lock-in.

What if the work takes longer than expected?

If scope extends mid-job, the provider can log additional hours via the time-tracking feature or propose a quote adjustment through the job messaging thread. You approve each time entry before it is billed. If you and the provider can’t agree on the adjustment, you can pause work and open a dispute. The admin team reviews messages, time entries, and evidence within 5 business days.

How do I leave a review?

Once a job is marked complete and payment is released, a "Leave a review" prompt appears on the job detail page and in your customer dashboard. You rate the provider on overall satisfaction plus quality, communication, punctuality, and value on a 5-star scale. Reviews are public on the provider’s profile and feed into their Smart Score ranking. Only customers who actually paid for a completed job can leave a review — there are no anonymous or drive-by reviews.

What address details do providers see?

The county and locality from your Eircode are visible on public job listings so providers can gauge travel distance before quoting. The full Eircode and specific address are only shared with a provider after you accept their quote. Contact details (phone, email) are never shown on a public listing; all communication runs through the WorkMate messaging thread until the booking is confirmed.
