When you search for a service on WorkMate, results are ranked to show the most relevant, reliable professionals first. Here is exactly how it works today.
Current ranking factors
When you receive quotes on a job, we order them by the provider’s review rating first and their response speed as a tiebreaker, and we show each provider’s verification status. There is no Smart Score, no paid placement, and the price a provider quotes does not move them up or down.
1
Review rating
When you compare the quotes on your job, offers are ordered primarily by the provider’s average review rating from customers who completed a real job on WorkMate. A higher rating ranks an offer higher.
2
Response speed
How quickly the provider sent their quote after you posted the job. When ratings are close, the faster responder is shown first. This is a tiebreaker, not the main signal.
3
Verification status
Whether the provider has completed Stripe Connect verification (identity and bank details set up during payment onboarding). Verification is shown as a badge so you can see it at a glance.
Planned ranking improvements
Coming soon
The following factors are not yet active. We plan to incorporate them into ranking as the platform grows. This page will be updated as each factor goes live.
4
Job completion rate
The percentage of accepted quotes that resulted in a completed, confirmed job.
5
Location relevance
How closely the provider's registered service areas match the customer's location.
6
Profile completeness
Profile photo, bio, portfolio items, listed certifications, and verified service areas will all contribute.
Paid placement
Premium subscribers receive featured placement at the top of each search results page. Within each tier (Premium and non-Premium) the underlying ranking signals — verification level, review score, response time — determine order. Pro and Starter providers are not pushed down beyond the Premium block.
This is the only paid-placement mechanism on WorkMate. We do not auction individual positions, and we do not sell visibility outside the Premium subscription tier. Disclosed per EU Regulation 2019/1150 (Platform-to-Business) Art. 5(3).
What ranking does not affect
Badge content — badges are earned through verification, not purchased
Review scores — all reviews are from verified customers who completed a real job
Dispute outcomes — our team reviews evidence independently
Job matching eligibility — all verified providers are eligible for all jobs
Frequently asked questions
Can I pay to rank higher?
Yes — Premium subscribers receive featured placement at the top of each search results page, disclosed per EU P2B Regulation Art. 5(3). Within each tier (Premium and non-Premium) the underlying ranking signals — review rating, response speed, and verification status — still determine order. Price never moves a provider up.
What ranking factors will be added next?
Review rating, response speed, and verification status already shape ranking today. We plan to incorporate job completion rate, location relevance, and profile completeness next. These improvements will be disclosed on this page as they go live.
Does WorkMate auction ranking positions?
No. WorkMate does not sell or auction individual ranking positions. Premium featured placement, where active, is a fixed benefit of the Premium subscription tier — not bid against per-position.
